- Dimensions are listed as length × width × depth, except for round stones which are measured as diameter × depth.
- Always choose gemstones by size, not by weight!
- Different gem varieties have different densities, so carat weight isn’t a reliable indicator of size.

| Irradiated | Radiation treatment modifies light absorption, transforming clear stones like Topaz into blue varieties. |
| Coated | A thin metallic film is added to produce the iridescent look found in Mystic or Azotic quartz. |
| Smoked | Foil-wrapping and gentle heating allow smoke to enter the opal, darkening its body colour and boosting play-of-colour. Common in some Ethiopian Black Opals. |
| Stabilised | Resin or polymer is infused into porous gems to improve hardness, density, and colour—essential for fragile stones like Turquoise. |
| Cultured | Human-assisted pearls grown in freshwater or saltwater molluscs. They grow faster and are more reliable, which keeps them affordable. |

About the Stone
Iolite Sunstone (also known as bloodshot iolite or aventurescent iolite) features tiny inclusions of hematite or other iron oxides that create a beautiful glittery “sunstone” effect against the stone’s natural blue-to-violet body color. When light hits the stone, you see lively flashes and sparkles that dance across the surface, giving it extra life and dimension.
Iolite itself is strongly pleochroic — it shows different colors (deep violet-blue, pale yellow/colorless, and grayish-blue) depending on the angle. When properly oriented and cut, the best blue-violet color is maximized while the sparkling inclusions add a distinctive sunstone-like brilliance. With a hardness of 7–7.5, it is durable enough for most jewelry applications.
